Comments:
ACE wheat blend combines the three proven leaders of Armour, Everest, and WB-Cedar. Planting a blend helps spread out your risk against a changing yield environment from year to year. Armour heads early, but has a long grain fill period. Armour and WB-Cedar are intermediate to tan spot so ACE could be an option for continuous wheat. Armour and WB-Cedar are very high tillering varieties and therefore can recover from drought and poor growing conditions. WB-Cedar is moderately resistant to Stripe Rust, including the 2012 race, which can help offset the moderate susceptibility of Armour and Everest. Everest is more resistant than Armour or WB-Cedar to Barley Yellow Dwarf.
All three ACE components are among the most popular varieties, especially in the Eastern two-thirds of Kansas. In the K-State Yield Trials, they have individually dominated different years in recent history and are proven, consistent winners.
