IRM Planting Requirements for Corn Growing Areas

  • Planting a corn refuge maintains a population of corn borers and rootworms that are not exposed to the B.t. protein and is an EPA requirement for all hybrids containing B.t. traits, whether alone or combined with other traits, UNLESS the refuge seed is included in the bag, i.e. Genuity® Smartstax® RIB Complete®, Corn Blend, Genuity® VT Triple PRO® RIB Complete®, Corn Blend, or Genuity® VT Double PRO® RIB Complete® Corn Blend.
  • Common refuge for Agrisure® 3000GT or YieldGard VT Triple® require at least 20% of your corn acres be planted to hybrids that do not contain B.t. technologies to control corn borers or rootworms.
  • Separate refuges for Agrisure® 3000GT require at least 20% of your corn acres to be planted to hybrids that do not contain corn borer B.t. technology and at least 20% of your corn acres to be planted to hybrids that do not contain rootworm B.t. technology, i.e. 20% to rootworm only and 20% to corn borer only.

 Before opening a bag of seed, be sure to read, understand and accept the stewardship requirements, including applicable refuge requirements for insect resistance management, for the biotechnology traits expressed in the seed as set forth in the trade provider technology agreement that you sign. By opening and using a bag of seed, you are reaffirming your obligation to comply with the most recent stewardship requirements.

Libertylink Seed products with the LibertyLink® (LL) trait are resistant to the herbicide glufosinate ammonium, an alternative to glyphosate in corn and combine high-yielding genetics with the powerful, non-selective postemergent weed control of Ignite® herbicide for optimum yield and excellent weed control.

B.t. products may not yet be registered in all states. Check with your Monsanto representative for the registration status in your state.

IMPORTANT IRM INFORMATION: Genuity® RIB Complete® Corn Blend products do not require the planting of a structured refuge except in the Cotton-Growing Area where corn earworm is a significant pest. See the IRM/Grower Guide foradditional information. Always read and follow IRM requirements.
